India counters Pakistan’s escalatory attacks with precise strikes on military targets; rejects misinformation about civilian damage.
On the morning of 10 May 2025, a press briefing was held by Foreign Secretary Shri Vikram Misri, accompanied by Colonel Sophia Qureshi and Wing Commander Vameka Singh, to address the continuing developments regarding Operation Sindoor. The session focused on Pakistan’s continued provocations, India’s measured military responses, and the ongoing disinformation campaign being orchestrated by the Pakistani state.
In the early hours of 10 May, Pakistan repeated its pattern of escalatory behavior by deploying multiple threat vectors across India’s western border. These included drones, long-range weapons, loitering munitions, and fighter aircraft aimed at both military and civilian infrastructure.
Air intrusions and harassment attacks were reported at over 26 locations stretching from Srinagar to Naliya. Alongside these aerial incursions, Pakistan launched heavy-caliber shelling along the Line of Control and the international border, directly targeting areas such as Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajouri, and Akhnoor.
Several high-speed missile attacks occurred post 1:40 AM targeting key air bases in Punjab. Civilian infrastructure, including Medicare centers and schools at air bases in Srinagar, Awantipora, and Udhampur, was also hit, highlighting the irresponsible and unlawful nature of Pakistan’s military tactics.
India responded with swift, calibrated, and precise air strikes focused exclusively on military installations within Pakistan. These included:
Key Pakistani military locations at Rafiqi, Murid, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, and Chunian were engaged. Additionally, radar sites at Pasrur and the Sialkot aviation base were targeted using air-launched precision weapons. All strikes were carried out with minimal collateral damage.
India categorically rejected Pakistani claims of destroying:
Visual evidence from the sites confirmed that these claims were entirely false.
Indian civilians and infrastructure continued to bear the brunt of Pakistani aggression. Notably:
Heavy exchange of artillery, mortars, and small arms fire persisted across several sectors. The Pakistani military was observed moving troops into forward areas, indicating a continued intent to escalate.
India remains committed to non-escalation but emphasized that its armed forces are in a high state of operational readiness. All hostile actions by Pakistan have been, and will continue to be, met with appropriate and effective responses.
Foreign Secretary Misri denounced Pakistan’s spread of lies and propaganda, stating that the destruction narratives being pushed were not only baseless but also deliberately misleading.
Pakistan accused India of attacking Sri Amritsar Sahib and other religious sites. These were dismissed as outrageous and untrue. In contrast, Pakistan’s attacks had verifiably damaged religious sites in India, including a Gurdwara in Poonch and a Christian convent in Jammu.
Pakistan also made the absurd allegation that Indian missiles had struck Afghan territory. Misri pointed out the irony, given Pakistan’s own history of striking civilian populations and infrastructure in Afghanistan.
Foreign Secretary Misri concluded by reiterating the gravity of the situation and cautioning against falling for falsehoods spread by the Pakistani state. He emphasized that India, while maintaining a posture of restraint and responsibility, will continue to respond to provocations with strength and precision. As the situation remains dynamic, further updates would be provided in due course.
